The "marketplace of ideas" is a rationale for freedom of expression based on an analogy to the economic concept of a free market. The "marketplace of ideas" holds that the truth will emerge from the competition of ideas in free, transparent public discourse.

A Note to Advocacy organizations, ADVOCATES, RESEARCHERS, ECONOMISTS, MEDIA, etc.
We are interested in PUSHING the CONVERSATION forward with regard to Cognitive Disability and Incarceration and Homelessness. That includes Brain Injury, Mental Illness, Trauma, Developmental Disability, Substance Issues, etc. Further, we approach this from a lot of different perspectives: scientific, religious, economic -- etc. We're probably not looking for websites that provide lists of providers. If those websites want to ADVERTISE with us, they are welcome. We run Google Adsense and for Advertisers that is VERY COST EFFECTIVE. We are looking for Studies, News Articles, Takes that really Substantively address Barriers to Housing, Services & Placements for People with Cognitive Disability in the Criminal Justice System and/or Homelessness. We are more than happy to highlight other Organizations and Media Outlets and provide a link to your site. And be sure to see our Disclaimers, Limitations and an Invitation |
Val's NOTE TO Potential Individual Contributors
We have been contacted by more than one person interested in writing on public health mental illness/addiction issues. While this is an ADVOCACY site -- we do welcome a broad range of contributors As individuals and advocates, I think having information is our best weapon. We won't be vouching or guaranteeing anything, and we encourage people to question. Additionally, we are NOT afraid of people who think differently than us and encourage anyone to express their views. If it's not too obnoxious and has some reasoning to it, we will strongly consider posting it on the website. There is SO MUCH to be hashed through in Mental Health today, and we would like to serve as a Marketplace of Ideas both in Colorado, Nationally and around the World. |
Note to Non-Profit and For-Profit Contributors
Note: There are so many worthwhile organizations and businesses out there that we do limit the resources we share on the Orchid website.
The first hurdle: Is this a non-profit? The second hurdle: If it is a non-profit, is it directly related to our mission in some way. If it's not a non-profit or it is less directly related, we generally recommend Google Adsense Advertising which tends to be relatively low-cost. We appreciate all the non-profits, businesses and individuals who use us as a resource and are helping to make us better. |
