Jail Diversion is important and we have to have sufficient housing & intensive Medicaid Mental Health Services to make that work.

It's easy when we focus on 1 person.  The reality is there are thousands of Coloradans with mental illness, brain injury, and developmental disability who are incarcerated or homeless or otherwise institutionalized.

The challenge is to move the State to fully accept its legal obligations and move from a piecemeal approach in the provision of housing and Intensive Medicaid mental health services ---- to a COMPREHENSIVE one.

------Like one would see in a Comprehensive, Effectively Working Olmstead Plan with:

• Measurable Goals
• Reasonable Time Frames &
• Funding to Support the Plan

Wouldn't it be loverly if Colorado complied with the LAW and did that.

Michael Marshall was a homeless man in his 50s with mental illness killed in the Denver Detention Center. From our perspective, two primary root causes were the State's failure to provide housing and adequate Medicaid Mental Health Services.
