Diabetes & Mental Health

         The Learning Care Group, Inc.  provides learning services for small children.  The were discriminating against children that had Type I Diabetes.  

           DOJ found that under the ADA, Learning Care Group, Inc. couldn't do that.

            Well, Colorado has health facilities that discriminate against people with mental illness who also have various physical illnesses or disabilities.  

            Such situations often include diabetes but it can also include people who use a power wheelchair.

             Further, we would submit that the ADA bar is even higher for health facilities than it is for learning centers.
       
              When we first saw this case, we posted on our facebook page that it had application to people with mental illness --- It didn't take long before we heard of someone being denied admittance to an ATU [Acute Treatment Unit] because of diabetes.
