Scientists study link between unhealthy pregnancy diet and ADHD Experts examine how a diet high in fat and sugar could alter baby’s DNA in a way that might cause behavioural problems https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/aug/18/unhealthy-pregnancy-diet-high-fat-sugar-adhd-children-dna "Co-author Dr Edward Barker, from the department of psychology at KCL [Kings College London], stressed that parents with children with ADHD should not blame themselves because diet was just one factor, albeit a potentially significant one. “ADHD/conduct problems are very complex psychiatric problems, they are multi-determined,” he said. “Diet could be important but it’s going to be important alongside a host of other risks. A sensible diet can improve symptoms but it’s not a single causal agent.” So our point is that ADHD is a problem for a significant percentage of the incarcerated population (see ADHD, Crime & Prison Issues ), diet during pregnancy is a significant risk factor to altering DNA along with other risk factors that are much more complicated than just being BAD-- BUT we're really not treating this as a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. --- That's Got To Change.
